As we continue to grow into a community that spans multiple locations, we want being a Keyholder at The Salt Mines to mean something more than just that you’ve paid into a certain membership level. We want our members to know that by obtaining Keyholder status, you’ve shown that your fellow members trust you and that you have earned that trust with specific action and time spent in the community.
What does it take to become a Keyholder? It’s pretty simple. We’ve adopted an approach that has served several coworking communities around the country well that relies on communication, openness and trust. Members interested in becoming Keyholders must:
- Be a Weekly, Part Time or Full Time member in good standing for the past 30 days
- Obtain sponsorship from two current Keyholding members
These two steps work hand-in-hand to ensure that any member who has 24/7 access to the space has a good understanding of the values of our community and has taken the time to earn the trust of at least a portion of the community. This “chain of trust” helps to ensure that even if you don’t know all of your fellow coworking members, you can rest assured that every member who has a key has an investment in the community and that at least two other members have said “yeah, I trust them to be here around the clock.”
What this also means is that we have expanded who may apply for Keyholder status beyond the previous restrictions of being a Full Time or Part Time member. Weekly members are now also eligible, which I know is something that a lot of people are going to be excited about.
Our community continues to grow every month at an amazing rate, and we’re excited to see what this change means for evening and weekend events in our space. If you’re interested in working in community with some of the most awesome people in Columbus, stop in for a visit and see what all the fuss is about—we’d love to show you!
