Thankful

Thankful

Thanksgiving is here, and while most of our coworking community is now spread out around the city, state and country celebrating and feasting with family and friends I wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on the past two years and everything we  have to be thankful for, specifically picking out just a few of the members that make this community so fun to be a part of.

I’m thankful to Brad Pauquette at the Columbus Creative Cooperative for being our first ever Full Time member. He’s one of the few who has seen this vision grow from zero members to where it is today. And is single handedly responsible for our current addiction to fresh popped popcorn and our penchant for last minute happy hours sponsored by random holidays. Happy Adopt a Pet Turtle Day, by the way.

Although he’s only been a member here for a handful of months, I’m extremely thankful for Rob Wheaton. Most days you barely hear a word out of him as he hacks away at the High Street space, but since week one he has fueled our need for warm doughy delicious doughnuts. I don’t know what we did before Doughnut Friday, but I’d rather not think about it too much.

I know everyone at the Indianola space is super thankful for Will Koehler who stepped into an official role with The Salt Mines back in August. There isn’t a day that goes by that Will isn’t checking in with everyone, giving tours, taking out the trash and washing dishes that he didn’t even get dirty. The amazing thing about Will was that he was basically already doing the work, all we had to do was make it official with a title. The Salt Mines would be a sorry, sorry place without Will and all of the other unsung members who do the dirty work to keep the place looking and running smoothly.

Finally, I’m thankful for one of our newest members, Eric Serrott. Stopped in last month to see what coworking was all about and was immediately all over it. Within days he signed up for a Full Time membership and has moved his entire home office into our space. Every day he stops in you can see the excitement on his face to be working around so many other independent professionals and his enthusiasm is unmistakable. “I love my job so much more now at The Salt Mines!”

This is by no means a comprehensive list of all of the community members that we’re glad make The Salt Mines what it has become and is becoming, but it’s a start. To the other 47 members not mentioned specifically, thank you so much for putting a little bit of yourself into this community. I’m eager to see everything we have to be thankful for next Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
